5 min read

If you are planning a short getaway to Fuerteventura and don’t know how to organize yourself, we recommend the best! The island is known for being one of the wildest and most beautiful thanks to its vast beaches and desert landscapes. Discover here how to make the most of your trip in just three days.

It is essential to rent a car that allows you to get around and reach some of those hidden corners that you can only access with private transportation. You can rent a car of your choice from Cicar, Autoreisen, Goldcar, Avis, TopCar, among other companies that suit your preferences and budget.

If your visit to Fuerteventura is short and you want to make the most of it by car, our recommendation is to find accommodation in the center of the island, such as Caleta de Fuste. One of the best hotels recommended by travelers is the Hotel Barcelo Fuerteventura Mar, but you can find different hotels and apartments to suit any budget.

1. Caleta de Fuste

Just 7km from the Airport you will find this great must-see tourist center of Fuerteventura. Caleta de Fuste is the ideal place for a family holiday in Fuerteventura and to spend a few days disconnecting.

From its marina, you can carry out different water activities to share unique moments with your family or friends.

Caleta de Fuste is a good option if you want to go shopping, as you can visit the Atlantic Shopping Center, food and Canarian craft shops, taste a wide range of restaurants of all kinds, sunbathe on its golden sandy beaches, or explore natural pools hidden among volcanic rocks.

If you have chosen accommodation in Caleta de Fuste or surroundings, we recommend the following activities that you can do in one day to make the most of your stay in Fuerteventura.

Catamaran Trip from Caleta de Fuste

The Obycat catamaran is very popular among sailing lovers visiting Fuerteventura. This fantastic catamaran is big enough to carry groups or families who want to sail in luxury while the professional crew pampers them during an incredible trip.

If you like the sea and tranquility, this activity is perfect for you. From this catamaran, you can enjoy the unknown bay of Pozo Negro, where you will see crystal clear waters and enjoy lunch and an open bar on board the cruise, with the possibility of seeing dolphins and sea turtles.

Cofete

One of the most untouched beaches in Fuerteventura, with less urban development and larger dimensions than other Canary Islands beaches. Located in the north of the Jandía peninsula, in the south of Fuerteventura, Cofete is a visual gift of endless blonde sand, wild ocean, and a total sense of freedom.

Its 12 kilometers, the scarce presence of houses, the absence of paved roads, and the suitability of visiting it in a 4x4 say a lot about its characteristics. The term 'virgin' was simply invented for these beaches.

Reaching Cofete is not very easy. The road is made of dirt and stones, stretching over 8.5 kilometers with challenging sections. From the viewpoint, you can enjoy beautiful views of the extensive beach at the foot of large mountains, where several Hollywood movies and series such as "Star Wars" or "Planet of the Apes" have been filmed.

After passing a small village with a restaurant, you only have to park and enjoy hours of walking either north or south. An impressive beach will more than justify the excursion. Therefore, we recommend doing the following activity with safe transportation to Cofete and all the amenities to enjoy this wonderful town.
